Care and Use Before first use: remove labels and plastic spout protector before use. Before use ensure kettle handle is locked into the upright position. Once in position, do not try to unlock. Before first use, wash kettle in hot water then fill with clean water and bring to the boil and discard this water. As with all metal surfaces in contact with high temperatures, please take caution when handling Le Creuset Kettles heated on the stove. Le Creuset uses stay-cool phenolic handles and lid knobs; however, we encourage you to use a Le Creuset oven mitt to remove whistle before pouring. How to use Never heat up an empty kettle. Never fill beyond level marked on the outside of the kettle. Match kettle base to size of ring/burner. Do not tip kettle upside down when pouring as water may spill from the lid. Do not leave kettle simmering for long periods on any heat source - it may boil dry which will damage the base and enamel
